Letter to FHLBank Members Regarding U.S. Treasury Announcement

Sept. 8, 2008 - Yesterday, the United States Treasury and the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) announced that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have been put into conservatorship. The FHFA, the new regulator of the Federal Home Loan Banks, will now manage Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as their conservator to stabilize their financial condition and ability to support the secondary mortgage market. FHLBank Topeka Maintains Commitment to the MPF® Program

April 24, 2008 - Yesterday afternoon the FHLBank Chicago announced that it will no longer enter into new master commitments or renew existing master commitments to purchase mortgage loans from their Participating Financial Institutions under the Mortgage Partnership Finance® Program. FHLBank Chicago will continue maintaining operational support for the MPF® Program. FHLBank Topeka's commitment to the MPF Program is unaffected by FHLBank Chicago’s announcement. Read more.

March 20, 2008 - The Office of Finance and bond markets are closed Friday, March 21, in observance of Good Friday. As a result, FHLBank Topeka will limit advance maturities to terms of three months or less. MPF services are limited after 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20. Read more.

FHLBank Rural First-time Homebuyer and Targeted Ownership Programs

Jan. 14, 2008 - FHLBank Topeka's Rural First-time Homebuyer Program (RFHP) will provide more than $3.8 million in down payment assistance this year to help first-time homebuyers in rural areas. RFHP funds will be available March 1. FHLBank's Targeted Ownership Program (TOP) will provide $200,000 to help FHLBank members assist disabled first-time homebuyers purchase a home.
