2007 Round One
FHLBank Topeka awarded $6.3 million in affordable housing funds in the first round of 2007. Through its Affordable Housing Program, FHLBank Topeka will help finance 1,236 housing units, of which 288 units are targeted to homeowners and 948 units targeted to renters. The average subsidy per-unit recommended is $5,159, and approximately 50 percent of the households targeted for assistance are very low income. The total projected cost for requested units is $112 million, with the average total cost per unit at $90,745. This indicates that each dollar of AHP subsidy requested will leverage $16.59 from other funding sources. Of the approved projects, 537 units are to be newly constructed, 418 units involve rehabilitation and 281 are existing units to be purchased.
Nonprofit organizations throughout FHLBank's four-state region partner with their local FHLBank member to submit an application for Affordable Housing Program funds. The following list indicates the sponsoring FHLBank member, the name of the project funded, its location and the amount of the grant.
