FHLBank Topeka is excited to announce a 50 percent increase in our annual contribution to affordable housing and community development initiatives throughout Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

The initial increase will begin this spring with our first-ever voluntary grant program for Native American tribes and tribally designated housing entities. As with our AHP grants, this and any future voluntary grant programs will be funded in partnership with FHLBank members. Additional information on new programs will be announced prior to their rollouts in 2024 and 2025.

Over the next three years, members can expect growing commitments of:

• at least $1 million in funding for voluntary grants in 2023,
• 2.5% of our 2023 net income before our Affordable Housing Program (AHP) assessment for voluntary grants in 2024 and
• 5% of our 2024 net income before our AHP assessment for voluntary grants in 2025 and thereafter.

This increase is a direct result of the partnership we have with our members. As a cooperative, FHLBank Topeka’s success is a shared success for you and your communities as well. About The Native American Housing Initiatives Grants Program
The Native American Housing Initiatives Grants Program is a new program for 2023. This voluntary grant program is designed to provide Native American tribes and tribally designated housing entities with access to funds to support the housing needs of tribal communities throughout FHLBank Topeka’s district. At least $1 million has been allotted to the program for 2023.

The program will support tribal organizations working at the grassroots level, which are in the best position to identify and respond directly to tribal needs. Accordingly, FHLBank can best support these efforts by providing grants with the flexibility to apply funds for various purposes.

The Native American Housing Initiatives Grants Program will launch in June with an application period through mid-July. Please look for more information this spring. You can also find information about all of our grant programs and the amounts to be awarded in 2023 above.
