October 22, 2019 FHLBank Topeka Approves 2019 Affordable Housing Grants

FHLBank Topeka approved $12.13 million in affordable housing grants nationwide. The grants will fund 15 projects through FHLBank Topeka’s Affordable Housing Program (AHP). This year, FHLBank Topeka received 69 applications for AHP grants with requests for over $45.6 million to fund projects in the FHLBank four-state district (Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma), as well as Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri and Texas.

Nonprofit groups, for-profit developers and public entities apply for the grants through one of FHLBank’s member institutions, comprised of 714 commercial banks, savings institutions, credit unions and insurance companies in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Each year, FHLBank Topeka allocates 10% of its prior year’s earnings for AHP.
